Tryst With Destiny Written By Khadi Madama is officially selected for competition in Festival De Indie .
CONCEPT OF THE SCRIPT
On the eve of India Independence Day 1985, with Nehru's haunting speech on the television, Princess Lily Gandhavariya and Lady Nora "Nur" Hale, two aging life-long friends are still haunted by the events of that same day in 1947, when their husbands died during the riots. They seem beset by ghosts. Ghosts of the Jalianwalla Bagh Massacre, the Dandi Salt March, and the partitioning of India. They are also haunted by the murder of their dear friend, Dr. Arish Raj and the desire to bring his murderer to justice. Ghostly figures of their husbands appear trying to tell them to dispose of sealed dossiers entrusted to them and which must not fall into the wrong hands. Together they weave a plot with the help of their loyal and devoted servants to release the ghosts, find a safe vessel for the dossiers, wrest a confession of murder for their dear friend and finally to have a bittersweet reunion on their birthdays at a favorite hotel by India Republic Day.
