CONCEPT OF THE FILM
This film is about the mysterious coexistence between man and snake, about the story of the transformation of the snake into a goddess, about the creeping entry of religion and superstition into science, the preservation of snake through religion and the destruction of man through superstition. In the seven villages of Bhatar block in East Bardhaman district of West Bengal there is a very harmonious coexistence between man and monocled cobra (Naja Kauthia) or Keute in Bengali. The villagers call the snake “Jhanklai”. They are sometimes bitten by cobra or even die. But they do not harm the snakes.
